Get Maria Menounos’ Look From The 15th Annual Race to Erase MS Red Carpet Extravaganza!
The theme of the red carpet event was old Hollywood and with that in mind, Celebrity Makeup Artist Bret Boreman took his inspiration from the icons of the 1960’s and created a modern day “Glam Goddess” on Maria. “I took old Hollywood, and gave it a modern twist,” says Boreman. “I wanted the look to have fresh, dewy skin with a stained red lip. To do this, I colored in the lips using a red pencil, then with my index finger, I pressed the color lightly giving the lips a raspberry red, stained appearance. For the skin, I combined a moisturizer with the Stila All Over Shimmering Illuminizer, massaging it into the skin, followed by foundation. This three-product combination; moisturizer, illuminizer and foundation conceals, protects and makes the skin shimmer for a modern take on a classic look.
To get this look Boreman used:
*Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Makeup: Flawless Cream Makeup
*Stila Eye Shadow: Moonlight
*Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Makeup Liquid Liner Pen: Blackout
*Stila Mascara: Major Lash: Jet Black
*Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Makeup Mosaic Blush: Wild Child
*Lip Fusion Lip Plumping Pencil: Red

Elizabeth Arden’s Color Intrigue Effects Lipstick is the newest ultra-hydrating true-to-color lipstick that is lightweight, yet long lasting. The gorgeous shades above are ones I recently received from the new collection that contain 18 colors overall.
The shades are broken down into reds, corals, pinks, plums and neutral hues. These shades also vary by effect: cream, shimmer and pearl.

Amazingly, these are the same lipsticks just shot at a different angle. When the light hits them on your lips at a different angle, the color appears to change.
I chose to go with Wine Cream (pictured farthest left) a blue based brownish plum cream. The color is intense, really more so than I imagined it would be. Definitely not a in a bad way, just a lot more pigment and depth than I anticipated. Besides how fab the lipstick made my lips feel, it was also a long wear lipstick, which honestly? Surprised me. How often do you sip your drink ony to find that your cup is now wearing your lipstick and not you? Yet that wasn’t the case with Color Intrigue Effects. I’d say it lasted a few hours and also avoided feathering and bleeding.
Love it! $19.50 at elizabetharden.com

Yes, with a clear question mark. When I came across an ad from Smashbox for their new mascara with claims of being “bionic” I clearly dismissed it and said, “Whaaa?“
“BIONIC is the first-ever ionic formula mascara. The primary ingredient in BIONIC is a chain molecule with a positive charge. The friction caused by sweeping the mascara brush across lashes causes a negative charge. Since opposites attract, the positively charged formula adheres to the negatively charged lashes for a dramatic effect that lasts all day.” (As described on Smashbox’s product page)
Maybe I am the only one, but that sounds a little fishy to me. Why would I need ions for my eyelashes? Is it going to volumize, define and lengthen my lashes? The description on Smashbox’s site simply says it makes lashes stronger and more voluminous.
I admit, I’m skeptical. Have you tried it?

The colors of an island paradise. Hues of crystal waters, blue skies and pink sand. Waves lapping shine like diamonds. Where’s your oasis when you need it?
MAC’s new Naughty Nauticals are for the girl who couldn’t help but care more about primping on a desert island than about her 3 hour tour gone wrong. S.O.S? No, we want to keep these MAC goodies to ourselves!

What do you think? Are the colors a wearable collection?

It’s pretty evident that I am a lip gloss junkie. Even when the shine of gloss is so last year, I still heart it and do it anyway. So when I heard that wearing gloss without an SPF can actually lead to an increase risk of skin cancer, I was shocked to say the least.
“Shiny lips are beautiful. Lip glosses bring out the natural color of your lips and the shimmery light gives you an irresistibly-kissable look. Lip gloss also, however, allows ultraviolet radiation to penetrate the delicate skin of your lips, increasing the risk for sun damage and even lip cancer later in life.” Dr. Benabio, The Derm Blog
Dr. Benabio is a friend, but more than that, he is a leading dermatologist and has a well written blog that I believe everyone should be reading. I’m so glad he alerted me to this because I guess I have been a little bit ignorant when it comes to protecting my lips from the sun.
So what’s a lip gloss addict to do?
Of course, I got on the horn and searched high and low for glosses that
contained an SPF.
Neutrogena Moistureshine Lip Soother SPF 20 – A dermatologist-developed, conditioning gloss that couples the healing benefits of a lip balm with the high-shine of your favorite lip gloss, plus broad-spectrum SPF protection. These non-stick, sheer and shiny hues offer a fruity fragrance that smells as great as it
looks.
Bare Escentuals Lip Guard SPF 15: A hydrating, mineral-based SPF 15 to protect lips from damaging UVA/UVB rays with a sheer tint.

Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15: Juicy hydrating gloss that can range from sheer tint to full coverage.

e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15: Seriously one of my favorite glosses. Although thick in coverage, the sweet smell and ultra hydrating formula will make you a fan in no time.

I came across this cool eye pencil brand called Pencil Me In Cosmetics in On Makeup Magazine’s (very awesome) Spring issue (kudos Michael DeVellis!) While I haven’t gotten the chance to give them a try myself, it’s definitely worth bringing the company to your attention.
Not only do these pencils have built in sharpeners in their cap, but the pencils include natural ingredients and blended botanicals. They also come in 30 shades! Holy smokes.
They certainly look pretty cool, have you tried them?

Shalini Vadhera, celebrity makeup artist and author of Passport to Beauty, recently created a stunning beauty look for actress Emmanuelle Chriqui (HBO’s “Entourage”) before she walked the red carpet at a Beverly Hills event.
Here’s how to duplicate Emmanuelle’s chic, but natural sexy look:
Shalini prepped and brightened Emmanuelle’s skin with Global Goddess Beauty Upgrade Complexion Face Primer and then applied Complexion Perfection Foundation to give her skin a flawless finish.
South Pacific Shimmer Bronzer served a dual purpose as an eyeshadow base and to warm up her cheeks. It’s one of Emmanuelle’s personal faves!
The Sizzling Serengeti Tribal Quad Eyeshadows in Mombasa helped to make her eyes pop. A layer of black and shimmery brown Cairo Eyes Liquid Liner and Exotic Eyes Blackest Mascara set the look.
Lastly, Shalini applied Sandstorm Lip Veil to gloss up Emmanuelle’s lips and Floating Diamonds Face & Body Shimmer for an all-over glow.
